Writing Prompt 1:
House That Wouldn’t Budge (or Float Away) Faces a Last Stand

1. Read the article then watch the beginning of the movie "Up" and write a comparison. How are they similar? How are they different?
2. Would you take a stand or sell? Why?
3. Write a story or skit based on your thoughts from answering 1 & 2 above. Don’t critique yourself as you write. Just write whatever comes to mind. Then go back and clean it up.
Suggestions for your story:
Write from the perspective of a:
News reporter.
The old woman.
The developer.
As an animal (crow, squirrel or ?) perspective
Or the house itself. (Or the new buildings vs the old house)
Write as a:
Comedy
Tragedy
Love story
Action/Adventure
Super Natural
Post your story or skit if you’d like to share.
